#BrainFactMonday – Why Do Solutions To Problems Arise Around Bedtime?
Posted on 19th February 2024

Ever wonder solutions to problems and brilliant ideas often strike as soon as you wake up in the early morning and/or right before falling asleep rather than when you need them at work? 😨
This #BrainFactMonday takes you into the fascinating world of your brain! 🧠
Research suggests that during these quieter moments, with fewer stimuli and heightened introspection, the brain's 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗗𝗠𝗡), responsible for creative thinking and problem-solving, seems to thrive. It does so when the world around us is less demanding.
𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗱𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 provide a unique setting for the DMN to activate, allowing for free-flowing thoughts and connections between seemingly unrelated ideas. In contrast, the structured environment of the workday can limit these creative breakthroughs.
So, next time a brilliant idea pops up when you wake up (or, as it often happens, during your morning shower) or before you fall asleep, be quick in capturing it on paper (not on your phone!) so that you can leverage on the following day. ✏️
The more you do this, the more 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 you will collect that those ideas are great and that you can trust your DMN, enhancing your self-esteem! 📈
Does this happen to you? (I constantly fall asleep with some interesting insights, to not mention how many ideas cross my mind as soon as I wake up! and I love that!) 😍💡
